Dear old friend, happy birthday! Was it letter U we played from in the Beethoven Concerto? The thought of it is driving me to Spotify at this very moment.
How are you? I’m fine, but the world weighs on me these days of COVID. Too much fear and it’s hard to fend off without daily effort,
You’re a grandfather! Wow.

Dear Erika -- A blast from your past, and from Sunset Hills! Happy Birthday!
I am thrilled that your children all speak Hungarian, and wish I did, too. I get as close as I can by reading about Hungary (Miklos Banffy). As with so much, I find I gradually get closer to understanding my earliest past as I get more distant from it. One thing I begin to see more clearly is you and your family, how it was that you ended up in the United States, and Sunset Hills. Things that seemed to me then merely 'given', such as your presence there, seem stranger, more tragic, more beautiful now that I have enough distance and enough knowledge to understand them better.
Anyway, I'm glad to know you're alive and seemingly flourishing -- as am I!
