IN MEMORY

Larry B. Hawkins

Larry B. Hawkins

Lawrence B. Hawkins       September 15, 1948  --  April 26, 2020

Jim Rich submitted the Obituary Link for Larry and Bob Todd has Posted the contents in the What's New.  I did not want to release the Sad news on New Year's day...then got a brain fade.

From Bud:    Sad news to report about my friend and classmate Larry Hawkins. I had lost contact with Larry in recent years but a friend of my wife’s, Carol Wright (Class of ‘67), sent me this obituary on Larry. He passed away on April 26, 2020 in Dallas Texas. See link below. Larry was married to Kris Gregory, (Class of ‘67). I spent a lot of my free time in high school with Larry and Dave Koerner, and now they are both gone!! I remember Larry as a great guy and good basketball player. Hope that 2021 is a better year for us all.      Bud Rich

From Bob:     Larry lived on Forest Glen and we played baseball together. The Markham Marks were a new pony league team. The first year in the league we went 2-18. The only two games we won Larry pitched. Then he left for the summer with his family and we never won another game! Lol! Thanks to Carol Wright class  67 for this obit from the Dallas Morning News.

Please feel free to add comments to this IN MEMORY tribute.

As Rande mentioned, we had a unique group of friends on the Seminole/Iroquois/Forest Glenn blocks....which extended to Inglewood Drive through the Storm Sewer Tunnel that went from the end of Forest Glenn to the end of Ingelwood...I got in so much trouble for climbing through that tunnel with the daring ones.....until my father explained it could flood and if so we would drown...so I returned to climbing trees and riding my bike.    Larry was my first crush....not sure if he ever made it to the boy/girl parties at John Brindles...if he did I am sure I was hoping he got me when we played spin the bottle.  I moved away at age 15 and lost day to day with the Markham gang but we all went through to Senior Graduation...although we grew up in different directions, the friendship feeling remained in tact with our childhood circle of friends.    Extend this to the whole class at Markham...and there are so many memories to cherish.

You had a great ife, Larry....sending condolences to your beautiful family and memories of you in years gone by....Rest inPeace!!!

I'm very sorry to hear about Larry Hawkins' struggle with pancreatic cancer and his untimely departure from this life.  He was one of the finest people I ever met.  My deepest sympathy to his family.  Rest in peace, Larry.
