TRIBUTE TO LOIS J.WILSON        At request of Family.......Written by Martie Schreiner Dreisbach

Lois and I have known each other and had family connections for over 70 years. We met when we were 4 and off to kindergarten. Our moms were best friends. Our older sisters were best friends. I even remember visiting her dad with my dad after his stroke and he was in a nursing home. We went to school all through high school together. We were in church, choir, bell choir and Young Life. Their family passed on the skills and the tools to make home made root beer. We picked cherries in their backyard. I knew the attic, the basement, the pantry in their Cedar Rd home.

After college we stayed in touch through our mom’s prayer group, church, holidays, and Christmas letters. We may not have stayed close, but we were in touch. Lois says it best in an email she sent me for my 70th birthday…

I am thinking about you and the many years and experiences the Lord has given us and our families! …I truly have a grateful heart for all the Lord has done for me, to me, and through me these many years.

I am grateful for Mt.Lebanon and all that growing up in that community meant to me! It was a rich heritage. And I am thankful for the friendship of our families shared through the years….Having you for a friend, and knowing your family was such a blessing and a help when I went through rough waters..( and still is a blessing.) Even now, though we have not been particularly close, I rejoice that God has given you a full life not only with your family of origin, but with Bruce, Katybeth, and Megan (my husband, children and now grandchildren.)

…Even though I am not much of a correspondent, you and your family are in my prayers regularly and I am so grateful you are in my life, and have been for these 65+ years.”

I Will miss Lois and her prayer support. I admire her as a Godly single woman who worked for health and healing of others. She nursed her mom during her cancer. She worked nights with babies in ICU. She was a peacemaker and missionary worker in Ethiopia. She helped in insurance claims and teaching nursing to others. She even read some of the books my husband wrote. As II Tim 4:7 reminds us…She fought a good fight, she finished her race (maybe a bit abruptly) and she kept the faith. Welcome home to heaven, good and faithful servant. You will be missed.

Lois and I were closer at Washington school and Mellon than during high school. I remember going to some away football games with Lois and Leslie Wright and cupcakes. But I was busy in GAA, volleyball and basketball and sports weren't her world. Lost my yearbooks in a flood so I can't go back and check them. Sorry...not much help. She was a regular reunion attender, I believe.
