Comments:
After graduation I went to Principia College near St. Louis. Then returned briefly to Pittsburgh to work for Pittsburgh Press and Homestead Daily News. Then went to University of Pennsylvania where I got a PhD in architectural history in 1976. Since 1977 I've been in Chicago at the U. of Illinois at Chicago in Art History, Architecture and Urban Planning although I've also taught elsewhere at Philadelphia College of the Arts, MIT, Columbia University. I am now semi-retired meaning no classroom teaching but lots of research, writing, consulting, speaking. I live primarily in East Lakeview in Chicago but spend time at houses in Omro Wisconsin and Palm Springs, California.
