Sebastian,Nicolas, Annelisse, Caiden, Callie ages between 10 and 2. Step-grandchildren Ayla, Pyper , Graham ages between 20 and 4.

Friends, Teachers, Football games , Dances , Volunteer work at St Clair Hospital and Kane Hospital plus summer jobs walking Mt Lebanon streets, knocking on doors and interviewing your parents for the yearly census, all contributed to my early memories

Had a great career path in the post secondary world with eventual employment as the Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance officer at Johns Hopkins University; retired in 2020 as a disabilities counselor at a community college in Columbia, Maryland; had three children, all of whom are successfully employed and now a daughter-In-law , 2 sons-in-law and 4 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren ; married for the second time in 2007 to Paul Van Akkeren. I taught at Mt L H.S. from 1971-1974, met young teachers at that time, started a card group in 1972, which met on Thur nights ( so we could drink, and only have to face students on Friday). Even though I moved, that group still meets monthly and no surprise, they continue to have lots to talk about. I join them when I visit Pittsburgh. 8/2025

Still dancing , including an annual polka cruise, playing bridge and canasta ( turning into my mother), traveling internationally twice a year, and senior hiking group. Love water aerobics. Very active in the Democratic Party in Maryland. Volunteer with an environmental group looking at reducing plastics. 8/2025

Since I was a marginal student I was surprised to see that I went to graduate school and had a successful career including publications, presentations, and state and nationally elected positions. I also was surprised that I could do this with three very bright kids. My positions in universities also meant free tuition for my kids so they are all debt free. I celebrated 50 years of working at my retirement party in January, 2020.
