A car driven by a young girl cut in front of a 18 wheeler. The 18 Wheeler jackknifed slid into Pierce's friend and knocked him across the highway. Then it dumped a load of sand on Pierce. Pierce is survived by his wife Sue McGraine Duchene (a Lebo class of 67) and son Pierce. Sue moved with Pierce around 1970 to Ft. Lauderdale FL. |

Pierce lived a couple of streets over from me on Woodhaven Dr. He was one tough kid. If you were in a fight you wanted him on your side for sure. He was killed on his motorcycle in 1970 I think. I will have to try and find a death notice. He had taken shelter from a thunderstorm under an over pass on the Parkway just before the Rosslyn Farms exit heading west. Apparently a car or truck, I can't remember which, was cutoff and ran off the road and killed Pierce instantly as he was sitting on his cycle. As a cycle rider since I was 16 you always fear those kinds of accidents. If I remember correctly he was married and just had a little boy. It was very sad. I'll try to find out more.

I heard that a truck full of sand filped and buried him.
