Hi, everyone, I hate to pass this on, but it looks like Mead Mateer has passed away. Our classmate, Joe Berwanger, has a friend who is Mead's neighbor, and he contacted Joe to report that Mead passed away October 2nd. Joe contacted me to let me know. There is no formal obituary, but a funeral home in Morristown, PA., near where Mead lived, has a notice that Harry Mead Mateer passed on October 2nd. They have his birthday correct, but the notice says he was born in 1944, not 1948. Upon retirement, Mead and his wife had purchased a home in Yardley, Pa.

I knew Mead since junior high school, and we stayed in touch until recently. We were close friends, and lived together in New York City when we graduated from college and both got jobs there. In later years, when I was living in Miami, his parents moved from Mt. Lebanon to Dunedin, Florida, and Mead would visit them there. I always drove up to see him when he visited, and we spent a lot of our time playing tennis. He was an avid tennis player, as well as being a golfer.

I'm sorry to report this, but Joe and I believe it is Mead who passed away on 10/2. He will be missed. He was a good friend, a member of a close-knit group that included Rich Frisch, Elliot, Singer, Pete Ferson, Frank Wesley, Joe Berwanger and Jim Thompson.
