School Story:

I remember being stuffed in lockers a couple of times by Sue McFeaters' boyfriend until I finally fought back at the outdoor premier screening of Dole Finger. Our self-depricating "Kick a Gypsy" campaign was one of several protests against jocks who loved to push the geeks around. "Gypsies Are Too Carefree!" Or how about the sonic boom protest? "Sonic Booms Give My Iguana Irregularity" I think that was Greg Hill's sign.

I remember being interviewed by TV reporters outside the high school when the Beatles came to America. I said something like "they'll never take the place of Bob Dylan." I also remember the day Kennedy was assassinated. I was taking a test. As I recall, the person on the PA system asked for one minute of silence. Then it was back to the test. I thought that was pretty cold.

Comments:

BS S. Connecticut State, MPA Sacramento State, MS Boston College Headed CA's Cooperative Development Program, Managed legislative, rulemaking, and CEQA functions at CA Dept of Toxic Substances Control. Former director at several small corporate boards. Speaker on corporate governance in the US, UK, China, Japan, and Korea.

Named to the 2012 National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Directorship 100’s “People to Watch” for the third year running in recognition of my "exemplary leadership in influencing corporate boards and for promoting the highest standards of corporate governance." Currently on the board of the United States Proxy Exchange. My "proxy access" proposal has been submitted to more companies than any other model. After many years, I'm still trying to make corporations more democratic and accountable.

I lost my lawsuit against Meta but got clarification that corporate boards owe a fiduciary duty to the corporation and the shares, actual shareholders are "incidental," according to Judge Laster.

Happy birthday Tim and Cliff Mandell. I hope you are both doing well and are healthy. Costa Rica still good? Cliff, I went through Abbotsford during the summer for a wedding up in the mountains. I found a great friend almost two years ago. She loved it in BC.

Hey Jud, happy birthday. Sorry I didn't get out to the Carolina's this year. I thought I would be out there for a conference as a panelist but I, went instead to a Council of Institutional Investors conference in Southern California, where I think I had a bigger impact. I hope that you and Joan are doing well and that Erin, Robyn and Judson are as well. Send my your email address so we can keep in touch. -- Jim McRitchie jm@corpgov.net
